Northern Illinois signs class heavy on in-state players

DEKALB, Ill. (AP) — Northern Illinois signed a 22-player class with 10 in-state players Wednesday, including at least a couple that could make a quick impact with the Huskies.

Rod Carey's team finished an 8-6 season with a loss to Boise State in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl.

Wide receiver Andrew Parchment from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, stands 6-3 and has the potential to add to a group of receivers that will welcome back last season's top pass catcher, Kenny Golladay (71 catches, 1,122 yards, 10 touchdowns).

The Huskies also signed a cornerback with a year of experience on a Big Ten roster. Jalen Embry redshirted a season at Iowa before transferring to Iowa Central Community College.
