Who will the Chicago Bears interview this week? The latest in the Bears' head coaching search

The Chicago Bears coaching search began on Monday, but interviews have started being scheduled on Tuesday.

According to multiple reports, the Bears have three interviews scheduled this week while one request has been denied.

This came a day after the Bears sent interview requests for over a dozen coordinators as head coaching candidates across the league.

Here's the latest on the Bears' coaching search.

First Bears interview: former Titans head coach

The Bears' first interview of the coaching cycle will be a former NFL head coach.

According to Boston Herald Patriots beat reporter Doug Kyed, former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel will interview with the Bears on Wednesday.

Vrabel was most recently a personnel consultant with the Cleveland Browns, but his contract expired. This means he's free to interview wherever he wants without needing a request.

The Bears might need to move quickly if they want a chance with Vrabel, however. The New York Jets interviewed Vrabel last Friday. The Patriots will also reportedly interview Vrabel, too.

Bears to interview Super Bowl-winning coach Thursday

One of the biggest shake-ups on Christmas Day was when former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said he was interested in getting back into coaching.

Specifically, he wanted the Bears' job.

On Thursday, he'll get his shot. According to ESPN's Dan Graziano, Carroll is interviewing with the Bears on Thursday.

He doesn't require a request, either. The Bears will give the Super Bowl-winning Carroll a chance to interview. Carroll did make it clear that he's open to coaching any team, however.

Bears to interview wild-card candidate on Thursday

Carroll isn't the only candidate the Bears will interview on Thursday. They're also chatting with a wild-card candidate.

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Bears will interview New York Giants offensive coordinator and Chicago native Mike Kafka on Thursday, too.

The Bears requested an interview with him on Monday, and got their wish.

The Chiefs' quarterbacks coach, Northwestern quarterback and St. Rita High School alum will also reportedly interview with the New Orleans Saints, too.

What we learned from Chicago Bears GM Ryan Poles ahead of his head coaching search

Here's what we learned from Bears general manager Ryan Poles as the Bears' head coaching search officially began on Tuesday.

Bears get interview request denied

It wasn't all perfect for the Bears. On Tuesday, their request to interview Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy was denied by Dallas.

This came as a bit of a surprise, as Cowboys owner, president, and general manager Jerry Jones said he wouldn't veto a team's request to interview McCarthy.

"I wouldn't want anybody coaching who didn't want to be here," Jones said.

However, that denial doesn't mean McCarthy can't interview if he wants.

The Cowboys hold exclusive negotiating rights with McCarthy through Jan. 14, though. After Jan. 14, McCarthy can interview with any team he wants, Bears included, without needing an approved request.
