The family of Hersh Goldberg-Polin, an Israeli-American with Chicago ties, confirmed that he was found dead in Gaza. He was taken hostage from a music festival in Israel that was targeted by Hamas on Oct. 7.

The World Food Programme, a United Nations food agency, is pausing its movement in Gaza after one of its vehicles was riddled with bullets allegedly from the Israeli military. Trey Yingst has more from Tel Aviv.

As the fighting continues in Gaza, negotiators from Israel, Egypt, Qatar and the U.S. are meeting for a round of talks aimed at reaching a ceasefire before a wider Mideast conflict breaks out.

Israeli soldiers rescued a man who has been held hostage by Hamas since the Oct. 7 attacks. There are are an estimated 108 hostages still being held in Gaza.

Israeli strikes killed 18 people across the Gaza Strip, included in the victims are six members of the same family, four of them are children. Since Hamas' brutal ambush attack on Israel in October, more than 40,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza.

A round of high-level ceasefire talks in Cairo ended Sunday without a final agreement, as the fighting escalates throughout the Middle East.

A group of Palestinian and Jewish runners have come together to call for a ceasefire in Gaza. The group is running on Chicago's lakefront trail each day that the Democratic National Convention is in the city.

The bodies of six hostages were recovered in Gaza, Israeli officials announced Tuesday. All six men were among the hundreds taken by Hamas during the Oct. 7 attacks last year.

Diplomats from the United States, Qatar and Egypt are now holding talks on a possible ceasefire deal in Gaza.
