Convicted felon threatened victim in Carol Stream Police Department parking lot: 'I'll kill you right here'

The victim of an alleged battery was returning to his vehicle in the parking lot of the Carol Stream Police Department when a verbal altercation ensued between the victim and a friend of the defendant in the battery case. While exchanging words, Nicolas Mayfield allegedly told the victim, “I'll kill you right here,” while gesturing his waistband — insinuating he had a gun.

A teacher at Glenbard North High School allegedly received a test back from the juvenile with images drawn on it — including a stick figure with an apparent handgun to his head, stating “I love summer school,” and a stick figure with a rifle outside a building labeled “summer skol” with an arrow saying “happy :( not dead.”

“The allegations against these two juveniles are outrageous,” said DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin. “Not only did these two juveniles allegedly hijack a man’s car at gunpoint, they proceeded to lead the police on a high-speed chase at speeds nearing 140 mph, then abandoned the car and fled on foot in a crowded park while armed with a deadly weapon."
