Chicago weather: Accumulating snow possible for parts of Chicagoland on Thursday

Tonight will be seasonably cold with lows in the lower 20s. With west winds between 5-15 mph, wind chills will likely drop to around 10-15 degrees.

A quick-moving system is expected to impact the Chicago area on Thursday. Light snow will move in during the afternoon and continue into the evening, especially near and south of I-80.

The south suburbs and Northwest Indiana could see as much as 1-2" of snow. The snow will taper off Thursday evening and night, and then all attention will turn to the cold.

Friday looks like a very cold day with morning temperatures in the teens and highs only in the lower 20s. With gusty winds, our daytime wind chills may be stuck in the single digits. Skies will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy on Friday.

Similar conditions can be expected on Saturday with mostly sunny skies and highs in the lower 20s.

We're continuing to watch a storm system that could bring snow to the area Sunday into Monday, but the timing and amounts are still uncertain. The heaviest snow still appears to be south of Chicagoland with this storm system.
