Chicago weather: Gradual cooling trend this week, snow possible

It was a mild start to the workweek with highs in the 40s and 50s.

A cold front had been slowly working through the Chicago area on Monday, so tonight and the rest of the week will trend cooler.

This evening will be partly to mostly cloudy with lows in the lower 30s. Partly sunny skies are expected on Tuesday with highs in the upper 30s.

A weak system will swing through Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning, bringing the potential for a light dusting of snow, mainly near and north of I-80. Scattered snow showers may linger into the day on Wednesday with highs in the mid 30s.

Scattered snow showers are possible again on Thursday with highs in the lower 30s. Friday will be mostly cloudy with highs in the lower 30s.

The weekend appears mainly dry with cold temperatures in the upper 20s to near 30 degrees. There is a small chance for snow showers on Saturday, but it doesn't appear to be an impactful event.
