Chicago weather: Light snow expected south as colder air moves in
CHICAGO - Chicago was warmer than normal yesterday. That’s right, by 2 degrees it was a warmer than normal day.
The normal high and low this week are 32/20 degrees. Moving forward tomorrow and Saturday despite some sunshine will be between 5 to 10 degrees colder than normal
As for today, it will be mostly cloudy with seasonable temps as a system brushes mainly southern portions of Chicagoland with some light snow late this afternoon and this evening. Up to an inch will be possible, mainly south of I-80 and even more so towards the Kankakee and Illinois River valleys.
As for the next storm system, computer models are coming into better agreement that central Illinois and Indiana will be getting the brunt of it, with the Chicago area ending up with less snow.
High temperatures will be a few degrees colder than normal during the Sunday and Monday timeframe, followed by much colder air for the middle and end of next week. The magnitude of that cold will likely be mitigated somewhat by how much snow is on the ground at that time.
