Chicago weather: Light snow could lead to slick commute

A weak weather system will bring light snow to the Chicago area tonight into early Wednesday morning, creating a chance for slick roads during the early commute.

Snow is expected to move into the far northwest suburbs around midnight, spreading across Chicagoland from northwest to southeast. While snow may mix with rain at times, the primary precipitation will be snow. Most areas will see minimal accumulation, ranging from a dusting to about half an inch. However, untreated surfaces could become slippery, so drivers are urged to use caution.

The snow will taper off by 8 to 9 a.m. Wednesday, giving way to a quiet day with highs in the low to mid-30s.

Later this week, scattered snow showers are forecast for late Thursday into Friday, accompanied by highs in the lower 30s.

Looking ahead to the weekend, temperatures will dip slightly, with highs in the upper 20s on Saturday under partly to mostly cloudy skies. There’s a small chance of flurries on Saturday, but conditions look favorable for Sunday’s Bears game, with dry skies and temperatures reaching near 30 degrees.
