Chicago weather: Some more snow is on the way

Temperatures will remain seasonably cool through the end of the workweek and then we dip into the 20s for highs by the weekend. Tonight will be partly to mostly cloudy with temperatures dropping into the low to mid 20s.

Thursday starts off mostly cloudy and then scattered snow showers will be possible during the morning and midday hours. A better chance of snow will arrive during the mid to late afternoon and linger into Friday morning.

Roads may become slick and snowy from Thursday evening into Friday morning, especially near and north of I-80 where 1-2" of snow will be possible for some.

Scattered snow showers, possibly mixing with rain, will linger into Friday morning, and then lake effect snow showers are possible Friday afternoon and evening. Temperatures will top out in the lower 30s on Friday.

The weekend looks quiet with mostly cloudy skies on Saturday and highs in the upper 20s. Sunday will be partly to mostly cloudy with highs near 30.

Another round of rain and snow showers will be possible on Monday, and then it appears dry for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Temperatures will be warmer than normal by Christmas Day. As of now, high temperatures are forecast to be in the lower 40s on Christmas.
