Chicago weather: Snowfall to impact commute

The cold continues.

Wednesday's high temperatures topped out in the mid 20s and there is no thaw in sight. Tonight will be mostly clear to partly cloudy with lows dropping into the upper single digits to lower teens.

Thursday will be similar to today with partly cloudy skies and highs in the mid 20s.

Our next storm system will arrive late Thursday night into Friday, bringing accumulating snow to Chicagoland.

The snow will linger through Friday morning and then taper off from the northwest to the southeast in the afternoon. Areas near and especially south/east of I-55 could see as much as one to two inches. Expect impacts to the Friday morning and midday commutes.

The weekend will be off to a quiet start on Saturday with partly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 20s. Another chance of snow arrives on Sunday with highs near 30.

Another shot of cold air will move into the region early next work week with falling temperatures on Monday and then highs only in the teens on Tuesday.
