Snow in Chicagoland: Projected totals and areas most impacted

Snow is moving through Chicagoland this evening and some parts of the area may see as much as 1-2".

The area we're most concerned about for travel impacts this afternoon and evening will be along and south of I-80. Locations north of I-80 will only see a dusting of snow with this round.

Snow will taper off by mid to late evening and the rest of tonight will be cloudy and breezy. Lows will drop into the teens, so plan for a cold start to Friday.

Tomorrow will start with wind chills in the single digits, and they'll likely stay there all day. Friday will be partly cloudy and breezy with highs only in the lower 20s.

Saturday looks sunny and just as cold with highs in the lower 20s in the afternoon. Another chance of snow will be possible Sunday into Monday, but the majority of the heavy snow will miss us to the south. Central Illinois and Indiana will take the brunt of this next storm system.

The colder than normal temperatures are here to stay a while. Monday and Tuesday will be in the mid to upper 20s, and then we drop into the teens for highs by next Wednesday.
