I-88 ramps to close for final phase of interchange construction

CHICAGO (STMW) - Several ramps along the Reagan Memorial Tollway in west suburban Naperville will be closed for more than a week starting Friday as crews work to complete construction on a new Diverging Diamond Interchange.

Starting at 8 p.m. on Sept. 11, the westbound tollway ramp to IL Route 59 will be closed. Westbound traffic will be detoured to the Winfield Road interchange to access IL Route 59 via Butterfield Road, according to a statement from the city of Naperville.

At the same time, eastbound traffic will also be closed and directed to the Eola Road interchange to access IL Route 59 via Butterfield Road, according to the statement.

Northbound traffic along Route 59 will be unable to access the entrance to the westbound tollway lanes. Traffic will be detoured to Butterfield Road, Eola Road and Bilter Road to access the westbound tollway ramp at the Eola Road interchange, according to the statement.

Southbound traffic along Route 59 will also be unable to access the eastbound lanes of the tollway will be detoured to Butterfield Road and Winfield Road to access the eastbound tollway ramp at the Winfield Road interchange, according to the city of Naperville.

Crews are working to complete a new Diverging Diamond Interchange, which, officials say, will help improve traffic flow by eliminating left turns in front of oncoming traffic.

Lanes are expected to reopen about 5 a.m. on Sept. 21, according to the city of Naperville.
