Proposed bill would allow teachers to carry guns at school in Alabama
Following the high school shooting in Florida, an Alabama lawmaker is proposing legislation that would arm teachers.
The bill would allow some public school teachers and administrators to receive training and be authorized to carry a concealed weapon during the school day.
Rep. Will Ainsworth of Guntersville decided to move forward with the idea after concerned school officials reached out to him following the shooting in Florida that killed 17 people.
"Our children are sitting ducks in gun-free schools, and as the parent of three public school students, I believe we must act now in order to prevent another tragedy," Ainsworth said in a press release.
