West Englewood mass shooting: 1 killed, 3 injured after gunman opens fire on Chicago's South Side

A mass shooting Monday night in Chicago's West Englewood neighborhood killed one person and wounded another three.

Around 9:11 p.m., police responded to the 6100 block of S. Justine St. where they found four victims who had been shot. A 35-year-old man was struck in the head and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

A 60-year-old woman was shot in the head and transported to Holy Cross Hospital in critical condition. A 52-year-old victim was struck in the upper right thigh and taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

A 64-year-old man had been shot in the right forearm and transported to the University of Chicago Hospital in good condition.

Witnesses at the scene said they saw an unknown man who was shooting at the mouth of the alley and fled the scene afterward, according to police.

Nobody was reported in custody. The investigation is ongoing.
