2 dollar stores robbed Friday morning in Waukegan
WAUKEGAN (Sun-Times Media Wire) - Waukegan police are investigating two armed robberies that happened Friday morning in the northern suburb.
The robberies occurred about 15 minutes apart by the same suspect at two different dollar stores, according to a statement from Waukegan police.
The first incident happened about 10:50 a.m. when police responded to a call for an armed robbery at Family Dollar, 1313 N. Lewis Ave., police said. The clerk told police that the suspect was wearing a blue face mask and a dark jogging suit with a Sox logo on the front. He was last seen leaving the dollar store.
At 11:02 a.m., police responded to a second call for an armed robbery at Dollar General, 2205 N. Lewis Ave., police said. The clerk told officers that the suspect had a gun and demanded money. The clerk provided officers with the same description as the first robbery, adding that he had a dark complexion and “twists” hairstyle, police said.
Neither of the clerks were injured during the robberies, police said.
