Chicago warming centers open ahead of expected lake-effect snow, freezing temps
CHICAGO - A major winter storm system is set to move across central and southern Illinois and Indiana, but Chicago will miss out.
However, lake-effect snow is expected to trickle in Sunday night through Monday, Jan. 6, with temperatures dipping into the teens and single digits overnight this week.
The city has opened several warming centers for public use, including select Chicago Public Library locations, Chicago Park District facilities, Chicago Police Department stations, and City Colleges of Chicago campuses during business or designated hours.
