Chicago weather: Get ready for snow
CHICAGO - Snow is on the way. The first batch later this morning should sail through southern Wisconsin staying north of The Cheddar Curtain.
This afternoon, snow will spread south into Chicagoland with temperatures right around freezing. This will continue into the evening, bringing around an inch or so with the higher amounts north.
Late tonight into the morning, another wave of snow will arrive with another inch or so. Impacts to the evening commute then tomorrow morning’s commute should be expected. Not huge but enough for slow-downs, certainly. The wild card will be lake-effect snow which could bring some additional accumulations near the lake in Illinois before shifting into northwest Indiana during the day tomorrow.
Saturday and Sunday will be dry with highs around 30 degrees Saturday then mid 30s Sunday. Monday features a chance for snow and rain with highs in the upper 30s. Christmas Eve will be dry with highs around 40 degrees, then a bit warmer on Christmas Day with a chance for rain.
