Metra BNSF trains delayed because of truck striking bridge
CHICAGO (STMW) - Metra commuters on the BNSF line should expect extensive delays Thursday evening while authorities inspect a bridge that was hit by a truck near Kedzie.
Trains are delayed between 15 and 45 minutes after a truck hit a bridge, according to the rail agency’s website. An extra train will take outbound passengers from Congress Parkway to Aurora.
Just before 5 p.m., trains in both directions were standing at Western and outbound trains toward Aurora were standing at Chicago Union Station for about 30 minutes, according to Metra.
The agency had to wait for a bridge inspector before trains could resume, and delays may be “extensive,” according to Metra.
