Pedestrian dies after running into traffic on Lake Shore Drive

CHICAGO - A pedestrian was fatally hit by a car on Lake Shore Drive Saturday morning. 

Chicago police said an unidentified male ran into traffic and was struck by a Toyota Prius traveling northbound near 49th Street. 

The incident happened just after 1 a.m. The victim was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. 

No other injuries were reported. The Major Accidents unit is investigating.
