Police identify Chicago man killed in Cicero shooting and crash

A man killed in a deadly shooting and crash in suburban Cicero on Sunday has been identified as 30-year-old Justin Washington of Chicago, according to police.

The targeted attack unfolded around noon at the intersection of Roosevelt Road and Cicero Avenue.

Washington was a passenger in a vehicle when two masked offenders in another car approached and opened fire, police said. Washington was fatally shot, while three women in his car, including the driver, were wounded.

Two of the women have since been released from the hospital, and the third remains in stable condition.

The gunfire also caused a crash that injured three others, adding to the chaos at the busy intersection. Witnesses reported seeing a white vehicle speeding away from the scene.

The intersection was shut down for hours as investigators combed through evidence. Authorities believe the shooting was not random and are working to track down the suspects.

This incident happened just a day after a Cicero police officer was shot and wounded outside a bar near 35th Street and 61st Court. The officer, 29, was released from the hospital on Sunday.

The investigation into Sunday’s shooting is ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
