Two charged in Uptown shooting
CHICAGO (STMW) - Two men were charged with shooting a man last week in the Uptown neighborhood on the North Side.
Royale Newell, 27, and 26-year-old William Grant were each charged with one count of aggravated battery with a firearm, according to Chicago Police. The pair is accused of shooting a 37-year-old man who was sitting in a vehicle in the 900 block of West Winona Street 5 a.m. Jan. 28.
The man drove himself to Weiss Memorial Hospital with wounds to the hand, arm, and chest before he was transferred to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in serious condition, police said.
Newell, of the 1000 block of West Hollywood, was ordered held on a $75,000 bond Sunday, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office. Grant, of the 4100 block of North Kenmore, was ordered held a $950,000 bond.
Both men are next scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
