Christmas comes to Chicago
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - Rainy weather was not keeping Black Friday shoppers from dashing through the aisles looking for bargains. However, it did put a damper on ice skating on the Maggie Daley Ice Ribbon.
Christmas lights are in full effect at the Lincoln Park Zoo, and a free event lets you see the exhibits in a whole new light.
"I would describe it as fun, cool and bright,” said visitor Julian Rosales.
"It's a zoo filled with lights, so I don't think they're gonna get bored cause they're going to be happy everywhere they go,” said visitor Messiah Walton.
The free display of 2 million holiday lights runs through January 3rd.
On Friday nights next to Cloud Gate in Millennium Park, it may sound like American Idol, but those angelic voices are part of a free caroling and sing along event from 6-7 p.m.
"Old Navy has 50 percent off the whole store, Macy's has some great deals on shoes,” said shopper Raqual Renteria.
We can't forget what's significant about this Friday along State Street FAR FROM THE PROTESTs. It was all about the bargains, despite the rain.
"No it never dampens the Christmas spirit. You get out here just like everyone else,” said Andrew Washington.
"50 percent off, buy one get one free,” said shopper Chelsea Riordan.
Even if you found a good deal on skates, they wouldn't have worked out on Friday at Maggie Daley Park. The ice ribbon was closed due to the weather.
"I was hoping me and my friend could do the Rocky and Adrian thing, we'd be the only two on the ice but they said we can't do it,” said Mike Fulton.
The park district has not indicated when the rink will be back open, When it does, admission will be free, but skate rental is $12.
