CHICAGO (AP) — Funeral services are being held for the grandson of a Chicago congressman who was shot and killed after an argument over basketball shoes.

U.S. Rep. Danny Davis will give the eulogy Saturday for 15-year-old Javon Wilson. The funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Carey Tercentenary AME Church.

In a statement, Davis says "I grieve because I loved my grandson." He also says he's mad at the two people who took Wilson's life.

A Cook County judge has denied bail for a 16-year-old boy and 17-year-old girl charged with first-degree murder in Wilson's death.

Chicago has seen a dramatic rise in the number of shootings and homicides, with August being the deadliest month in the city in two decades.
